The
founders
Climatmundi was founded by Eric Parent (X-Ponts) and Isabelle Rappart (Agro Paris). We are both engineers with a passionate interest in the environment and sustainable development. We decided to pool our 15 respective years of professional experience in leading groups, research departments and local authorities, and set up our own organisation in an attempt to respond to the enormous challenges thrown up by global warming. |
Our
fears
We are alarmed by the immense threat global warming represents for the Earth, and are convinced that a key factor in sustainable development is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions - CO2 being one of the worst offenders. We are convinced that if we do not act quickly to limit and reduce these emissions we will be placing the survival of the planet and of vast numbers of living species, including the human race, in extreme danger. We are shocked by the extent of the changes we must make, and how urgently we must [to] make them if we want reduce CO2 emissions to a level compatible with the sustainable survival of our world, that is to say by 75% in less than 50 years. We are concerned about the antagonisms such changes might create within our society and between all societies the world over.
… and our hopes
We are encouraged by the wealth of ideas and initiatives coming from everywhere that propose new solutions to the various aspects of the problem, large or small. And amazed by how quickly people everywhere at all levels are organising to combat global warming; the wheels have already been set in motion.
Our objective
We have noticed in this combat it is not so much the motivation as the means that is are lacking.
The idea of carbon offsetting has won us over because it allows all of us to combat global warming simply and effectively by placing at our disposal the wherewithal for reducing greenhouse gas emissions hitherto available only to those in the big league. We founded Climat Mundi so that our children may continue to enjoy the beauty of the planet as we know it. Our enthusiasm for the project is growing by the minute and we hope to pass on some of it to you!
